Meet the Counselor

My name is Janis Royal and I am proudly returning to Axtell Elementary to serve as the Counselor!

After graduating from Axtell ISD, I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Tarleton State University in 2003, and a Master of Education degree from Tarleton State University in 2011. I have previously served as an elementary assistant principal, elementary school counselor, and elementary school teacher in other Texas schools.

My husband Erik, also a Tarleton State University Alumni, and I live on our family ranch. We have two wonderful children, Deslyn and Eaen, who graduated from Axtell ISD and are now pursuing degrees at Stephen F. Austin and Tarleton State University.

After serving in education for the past 20 years in various roles, I am excited for the opportunity to serve our community at Axtell Elementary. There is no place like home!

A Counselor is someone you can talk to when you feel worried.

A Counselor is someone you can talk to when you feel proud.

A Counselor is someone you can talk to when you feel sad.

A Counselor is someone you can talk to when you feel lonely.

A Counselor is someone who is always a friend!

Please let your child know they can write a note and put it in the black box outside my door, or use their iPad camera to scan the QR code on the wall to fill out a Google request form if they need to visit with me.
